Brymo confirms leaving Chocolate City as label opens branch in Kenya

First there were rumours that Brymo had left Chocolate City, then the record label released a statement denying the rumour, and now Brymo has gone on Twitter to set the record straight. Like Jesse Jagz, he has also left Chocolate City, though the record company is insisting he still has a valid contract with them.

‘He still has three years and two albums to deliver, that’s what his contract says‘, a rep for the label said.

Meanwhile, Chocolate City Vice President M.I made an announcement in Lagos, saying the Kenya launch will happen in a matter of days – on May 31. ‘The official launch of Chocolate City Kenya Label -a part of the Chocolate City Group -will be coming up on the 31^st of May 2013 in the prestigious Museum Hill in Nairobi, Kenya’, M.I who is an iconic Nigerian rapper and one of the continent’s most successful entertainers, said.

‘Our aim is to create a platform for the growth and expansion of East African music and foster more mutually beneficial collaborations with other African sub-regions’, he adds.

 

 

The label has already signed Kenyan act Victoria Kimani who features M.I on her sophomore single Oya.

The premiere will be the 6th installment to the Fast and Furious film series. Co-Produced by Vin Diesel , the lead character in the series, Fast and Furious 6 is a 2013 American action movie starring some of the world’s greatest movie stars including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodrigues, Tyrese Gibson, and others.

 The 130 minute long movie follows a professional criminal gang led by Dominic Toretto (Diesel) who, though retired following their successful heist in Fast Five (2011), remain wanted fugitives. U.S. Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) agent, Luke Hobbs (Johnson), offers to clear the group’s criminal records and allow them to return home in exchange for helping him to take down a skilled mercenary organization led by Owen Shaw (Evans) and his second in command, Dominic’s presumed-dead lover Letty Ortiz (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at the street level; this deadly challenge will determine the group’s fate and likelihood of returning to their long abandoned home to make their lives and families whole again or live forever on the lam with their lives incomplete.

Dancehall star, Elephant Man to perform in Ghana at Bass Awards

Elephant Man, also known has confirmed he is currently rehearsing for his performance in Ghana during the BASS Awards scheduled for July 6, at the Accra International Conference Centre. It would be the debut performance the Jamaican dancehall star in Ghana and his spokespersons say the mega star is excited about the trip and the fact that he would be performing at an event meant to celebrate and award reggae and dancehall music.
 

 Elephant Man would be one of the several international artistes attending the programme. Another name being speculated to be at the BASS Awards is Winston ‘Yellowman’ Foster, world-renowned Jamaican reggae (rub-a-dub) and dancehall deejay, widely known as King Yellowman. The award ceremony is being organized by Rackus Productions in collaboration with Bullhaus Entertainment and Solid Multimedia to honour Reggae and Dancehall music stakeholders.

Oh, hello ladies.  Fresh off Kelly Rowland’s upcoming Talk A Good Game album, the sexy singer has tapped her two besties, Beyonce & Michelle, to appear on the likely new single.  It’s called “You’Ve Changed” and a snippet popped up on Soundcloud today.
 

 The track gives up a “Girl” vibe with the harmonic melodies, uptempo soulful song about why a man won’t continue to do them wrong.  The trio reportedly didn’t record it together in a studio, but thanks to good production, their voices are all meshed together fabulously.
Kel told Billboard in a recent interview about leading the track:

“It’s not a Destiny’s Child track, it’s me featuring Beyoncé and Michelle.”

Season of talent hunts: Will Vodafone Icons survive?

Lovers of television singing competitions will surely be spoilt for choice in what is becoming the season of talent hunt. And with Vodafone Icons set to launch its third season, the question is how would the show fare amidst the return of TV3 Mentor and the introduction of Glo X-factor? Not forgetting that MTN Hitmaker, and Project Fame West Africa are also on. Stars of The Future has not announced a new season yet but viewers and indeed the talent on these shows must surely have plenty options.
There are more questions that Vodafone Icons would have to answer, including why past winners have failed to stick together as a group. At least RnM is still together and making music despite losing one member and replacing her with a newcomer. The winners of season 2, Black & Peach seem to be nowhere to be found! Noella has already launched a solo career.
 

 And now that Ms Naa has had a baby would she return as a judge, who will replace her? What will be different about Vodafone Icons this year? Who is going to be the host? Will there be a change up?

TV Buzz: Real Housewives of Lagos coming soon?

Reports suggests that , NBC Universal, owners of the popular America docu-reality series; the Real Housewives Franchise is partnering with a Nigerian organisation to produce a version of the show for the African audience.  The new show will be called the Real Housewives of Lagos and will cover the lifestyle of 5 – 8  different women resident in Lagos. 

These women must fit a certain profile; aged between 30 and 50, extremely wealthy – married into money, inherited a fortune through her family, or just self-made millionaires – they could be married, divorced or single.  They will also grant an all-access pass to their lives: their families, friendships, careers and homes.

The female rep is Ada Beverly Osu. She is a model and popular Lagos based video vixen. She was also briefly engaged to rapper 2shotz in 2011.

The guy is Melvin Oduah; a model, actor, 1st runner up Gulder Ultimate Search VI, and 1st runner up Mr Nigeria 2011. Good luck to them!

Though she's keeping her own apartment - smart - she's already moved most of her clothes and other personal belongings to his pad.

And it's not like they've been secretive - they've been spotted everywhere lately, hitting up the Billboard Awards afterparty and even rear-ending a Mercedes together.
